Mice or rats: which size do I need?
Small for mice, Large for rats. Droppings the size of a grain of rice are mice; the size of a raisin or bigger, rats. Barn, coop or garage with both: take a pack of each.
How many traps do I need?

Why can't they just steal the bait?
Because the bait sits in a cup inside the trigger plate, a little lower than the plate itself. To reach it, they have to put their weight on the plate, and the plate is what fires the jaw. Caught, not fed.
Will I have to touch it, or even see it?
No. The jaw is covered, so you barely see what's inside. Hold the trap over the bin and press the back: the jaw opens and it drops out. Rinse, re-bait, reset. The same trap works night after night.
Is it safe around kids and pets?
No poison, no glue, and the jaw is covered, so there is nothing loose for a child or a dog to find. It is still a snap trap strong enough for a rat, so set it where little hands and paws don't go: behind appliances, under furniture, along the wall.
